M.S. Recreation & Sport Administration
This program is designed to prepare professional Recreation and Sport Administration practitioners for a wide range of occupations. The following concentrations areas are available:
General (on-campus): The General concentration provides opportunity for study in a specialized area of
recreation, knowledge of research procedures, and academic background for students
planning to pursue doctoral study.
Athletic Administration & Coaching (online): The Athletic Administration & Coaching concentration provides an opportunity for individuals
interested in Athletic Administration & Coaching (K-12) to gain knowledge, research,
and experience. This 33-credit hour program is 100% online and is designed to meet
the demands of professionals in this dynamic area.
Facility & Event Management (online): Numerous professional organizations emphasize trainings and certifications in facility
and event management for their members. These offerings can include aquatic management,
crowd control, playground safety, accessibility, risk management, construction standards,
turf management, emergency action planning, green design and sustainability, and many
more.

Intercollegiate Athletic Administration (online): This application-based program prepares you for work in intercollegiate athletics
and will provide you the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills through an advanced
curriculum. This 33-credit hour program is designed for students interested in careers
in collegiate athletic administration such as, athletic directors, compliance and
eligibility, student athlete development, finance and many other administrative roles.
Sport Media and Branding (online): Turn your passion for sports, innovative technology and business into a fantastic
career. Sport media plays a pivotal role in the production and distribution of messages
and brands that touch many aspects of our social and cultural lives. WKU's 100% online
Master of Science in Recreation & Sport Administration with a concentration in Sport
Media and Branding allows graduate students to explore the context and complexities
of 1) sport media relations, 2) sport branding, 3) digital media production and distribution,
and 4) sport sponsorships.
M.S. Kinesiology: Exercise Physiology
The M.S. in Kinesiology program prepares students to pursue various performance, health,
fitness, rehabilitation, and research careers. Students looking to further develop
their knowledge and skills in the field of kinesiology in preparation for a professional
career will do so through relevant coursework, seminars, laboratory experiences, and
a research project specific to their interests. Students interested in pursuing a
doctoral program will also have the opportunity to engage in faculty-led and self-directed
research, in addition to relevant coursework, which will foster the development of
advanced methodological and laboratory skills necessary for doctoral level study.
M.S. Kinesiology: Physical Education Teacher Leader Endorsement Concentration
The Physical Education Teacher Leader concentration focuses on teaching and meeting the Kentucky
Teacher Requirements for Advanced Teaching Standards. The other three concentrations were
not designed to lead to rank change for Kentucky teachers. The Physical Education Teacher
Leader Concentration is designed to develop Teacher Leaders who can positively impact
student learning in their classrooms and schools. The program is divided into two
instructional components. The first component, Professional Education, provides advanced
level pedagogy, leadership, and content related to Kentucky Teacher Standards and
applicable to all
P-12 teachers working in various developmental and content areas. The second component is the specialization that allows the candidate to expand content, pedagogy, and/or leadership skills. This specialization allows for professional growth concurrent
with the goals of each candidate.

The online graduate certificate in Nonprofit Administration (12 credit hours) helps
prepare students for careers in, and service to, the nonprofit sector. Designed with
national curricular guidelines in mind, the focused program addresses current issues
and skills relevant to the nonprofit sector. The three primary audiences for this
program include: 1) Nonprofit professionals interested in continuing their education;
2) Students preparing for careers in the nonprofit sector; and 3) Community members
interested in increasing their abilities to serve the nonprofit sector (e.g., board
of directors, committees). It is designed to be completed in just two academic terms,
