The Symphony
The WKU Symphony is a full symphony orchestra comprised of music majors, minors, and non-music majors. In addition to performing five concerts per year in historic Van Meter Hall, the WKU Symphony has collaborated for operatic productions, musical theater shows, jazz concerts, and ballet productions. The WKU Symphony embarks upon tours regionally and has performed at the Kentucky Music Educators’ Conference and the American Choral Directors Association National Conference. The core music of the WKU Symphony comes from standard repertoire by legendary composers alongside premieres of new compositions. The WKU Symphony believes that great music-making requires deep dedication and to that end, maintains rigorous standards for rehearsal and performance.
Admission to The Symphony is by audition only. Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Students may receive one course hour credit by enrolling in University Orchestra.
Tickets can be purchased through the Fine Arts Box Office or at the door. Check out the WKU Music Department Event Calendar for a complete list of concerts.
