Our college is committed to implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion on our campus and supporting these fundamental values in the wider community, our nation, and the world. Racism and other forms of exclusivism and social injustice have a long history in our country and many parts of the world. We believe it is our mission as a part of an institution of higher learning to assist in addressing these social ills by being an example for the rest of society.
Recent violent racism and other negative events have accentuated the need for higher education to take the lead in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, demonstrating to society at large the crucial value of education in addressing such issues. There is no doubt that we also need to improve our performance in this respect. As a result of this realization, the college is committed to creating an environment where our students, staff, and faculty can prosper intellectually, socially, mentally, and physically, and contribute to the progress of our community, country, and world.
We believe BLACK LIVES MATTER.
We RECOGNIZE that racism exists.
We RESPECT the experiences and feelings of those who have been impacted by the ills of racism.
We will EDUCATE and seek to be educated.
We will RESPOND with sustainable efforts to institute change.
We are PCAL.
We are ONE WKU.

The College of Arts & Letters Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee at WKU is currently accepting applications for funding to departments and student organizations for DEI initiatives that closely align with the college DEI mission.
I’m glad that the committee was able to support the important work of faculty and students in their DEI efforts.
