The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences
Welcome to the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences
Modern society continues to become more dependent on technology. Personal and portable technologies allow people to be more connected. Homes become smarter as the number of connected devices grows. The manufacturing process becomes progressively more sophisticated as the technical requirements increase. To meet these challenges, industry must have access to students who not only have a strong foundation in their discipline but also can apply this knowledge to solve real problems.
The focus of the new WKU School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) is to educate students to be leaders in a changing technical landscape, to provide solutions to the problems facing the modern high tech society, and to provide a workforce to support the technological complexity of industry.
In order to provide students with the necessary skills, the programs in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences are project-based which means that students have opportunities to engage in project activities throughout the curricula to support design, development, implementation, and troubleshooting.
SEAS consists of three former departments in the Ogden College of Sciences and Engineering; Architectural and Manufacturing Sciences, Computer Science and Engineering Departments.
The Architectural and Manufacturing Sciences Bachelor of Science programs of Architectural Sciences, Construction Management, Manufacturing Engineering Technology (previously known as Advanced Manufacturing), Technology Management and the Master's of Science in Engineering Technology Management are accredited by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE).
The WKU Engineering programs -- civil engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering -- are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.
