WKU Research Foundation
History
In December 1998, the Western Kentucky University Research Foundation, Inc. (WKURF) was formed to facilitate and expedite scholarship at WKU. The WKU Board of Regents approved the formation in September 1999, by the Commonwealth of Kentucky in November 1999, and by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit to serve the educational needs of WKU and the community in February 2000.
Role of WKURF
The WKU Research Foundation (RF) Board is composed of members with expertise in various areas of science, technology, entrepreneurship, business development, economic development, and fundraising. Because of the expertise of its members, this Board has the potential to connect resources to advance initiatives developed at WKU by faculty and students. For example, these resources could include:

The Kentucky Innovation Network -
Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce -
Regional Small Business Development Center -
Intellectual Property Committee -
Engineering and Manufacturing Commercialization Center -
WKU Student Business Accelerator -
Regional Entrepreneurs -
Others
The RF Board is interested in facilitating the connection of these resources to several campus initiatives that will support their growth and long term viability.
Role of the RF Board

Support the education and research missions of WKU and promote its scholarly and entrepreneurial research -
Facilitate connections between available regional and WKU resources to support the advancement of innovative ideas, initiatives, centers/labs, etc. -
Create a campus-wide digital platform to market and develop a cross-campus research/innovation presence -
Monitor the quarterly financial activity of the WKURF
