Welcome to the Department of Allied Health

Our mission is to provide a quality educational experience, instill professionalism, encourage life long learning, and assist students in the pursuit of excellence in their chosen field.

Allied Health encompasses professional, technical, and supportive workers in patient care, public health, and health research. Allied Health professions include a wide distribution of personnel with various levels of health education and training, which enables them to function as a members of the health care team.

Our department is composed of five health related programs:

  • Dental Hygiene
  • Health Sciences
  • Health Information Management
  • Physical Therapy
  • Paramedicine (KEMSA)

 

Dental Hygiene

 The Program of Dental Hygiene offers the following degree programs:

  • The Associate of Science Degree
  • The Bachelor of Science Degree
  • The Bachelor of Science Education Track Degree

Enrollment into the Program of Dental Hygiene is limited to 28 students per year. Please click on the Dental Hygiene Tab for additional information about the admissions process and  program standards and requirements.

The Department of Allied Health also offers The Online Bachelor of Science Completion Degree to licensed hygienists who have received their dental hygiene associates degree from an accredited institution.

Health Sciences

The Bachelor of Health Sciences program is a rapidly growing degree program. The Bachelor of Health Sciences program currently offers the following concentrations:

  • Environmental Health Sciences
  • General Wellness
  • Gerontology
  • Health Promotions
  • Health Services
  • Social Services

The Bachelor of Health Science program allows Associate of Applied  Degree prepared students to pursue the Bachelor of Health Sciences degree with a specific transfer agreement. Please contact the program adviser for specific transfer details. Please click on the Bachelor of Health Sciences Tab for additional information.

Health Information Management

The Health Information Management program offers the following degree programs:

  • Associate of Science Degree
  • Bachelor of Science Degree

The Health Information Management programs prepare students to become the health care professionals responsible for maintaining components of Health Information Systems consistent with the medical, administrative, ethical, legal,regulatory, and accreditation requirements of the health care delivery system.

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy offers the following degree

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree  (DPT)
