BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Dr. Neale Chumbler, a 1991 Western Kentucky University graduate, will return to the Hill as the new Dean of WKU’s College of Health & Human Services.

Dr. Chumbler, currently Professor and Head of the Department of Health Policy and Management at the University of Georgia, starts March 23. He will replace Dr. John Bonaguro, who is returning to the faculty after 12 years as the founding dean of the college.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Chumbler to WKU,” Provost Gordon Emslie said. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in pedagogy, research and leadership in the area of health and human services and he is keenly aware of the potential of the College of Health & Human Services to significantly advance its roles in education, the discovery of new knowledge and engagement with the community. I look forward to the continued strategic and purposeful growth of the college under Dr. Chumbler’s leadership.”

“As an alumnus of WKU, I am extremely excited to be returning to the Hill,” Dr. Chumbler said. “I am honored and humbled to become the next Dean of the College of Health & Human Services and to be part of WKU’s ambitious plans for the future.

“The faculty, staff, alumni and students of the College of Health & Human Services have made enormous contributions to education, scholarship and community outreach,” he added.  “I am excited about the opportunity to work with all of them, and with colleagues across the campus, to support and serve students, continue the excellence in innovative and creative instruction, expand vital and impactful research and foster valuable contributions to the region, the state and the world.”

Since it was created 12 years ago, the College of Health & Human Services has seen strong enrollment growth; the addition of the Medical Center-WKU Health Sciences Complex; and the addition of doctoral programs in nursing practice and physical therapy.
