Applying to STEM + Arabic

Shortly after admission to The Gatton Academy in March of a student’s 10th grade year, newly-admitted students are invited to an online information session about the language track.  Interested students then fill out a short, online application expressing their interest in the program and they are then registered to start their Arabic study the first semester.  Applications are only available to admitted Gatton Academy students.

 

Typical STEM + Arabic Language Track for Beginners

  • Semester 1:  Honors Elementary Arabic I (ARBC 101)

  • Semester 2:  Honors Elementary Arabic II (ARBC 102) 

  • Semester 3:  Intermediate Arabic I (ARBC 201)

  • Semester 4:  Intermediate Arabic II (ARBC 202)

  • Seminar with Office of Scholar Development on nationally and internationally-competitive critical language scholarships

  • Exploring National Security Education Program Flagship programs as college options

  • Traditional Arabic meal at a local immigrant-owned restaurant

  • Arabic Calligraphy with WKU Arabic instructor

  • Arabish language exchange with WKU international students from Arabic-speaking countries meeting native English speakers

  • WKU professor presents on their home nation
