Research
Dr. Kinnersley specializes in government and not-for-profit accounting. His current research focus is on financial reporting and the communication of governmental financial information. Dr. Kinnersley teaches introductory accounting and government and non-for-profit accounting at the undergraduate level.

Dr. Kinnersley has been a speaker at the Southwest School of Governmental Finance since 1994. He has also presented at the Tennessee Society of CPAs annual governmental accounting conference. Dr. Kinnersley has published articles in Public Budgeting, Accounting, and Financial Management; the Journal of Governmental Financial Management, and The CPA Journal. He has written a chapter for the Handbook of Government Accounting. Dr. Kinnersley has also consulted with two CPA exam review courses. Dr. Kinnersley is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the American Accounting Association, and the Association of Government Accountants.
