Academic Advisor - Special Projects
Office: Downing Student Union A330
Melissa Flowers is excited to be a part of the Academic Advising & Retention Center (AARC) and to work with a team that is specifically geared toward students and their present and future academic success. In 2001, Melissa graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Management. Two years later she joined the AARC team as an Advising Associate. Today, Melissa works closely with Pre-Registration for the Academic Transitions Program (ATP), Best Expectation Programs, change of majors, and advises exploratory students. Melissa’s goal each semester is to help students achieve academic success with encouragement, support, and guidance. She also uses her expertise to help students explore their major options. When students are unsure, Melissa creates scenarios, suggestions, and asks critical questions that can help a student create a class schedule that is geared toward their interests but still keep the student on track for graduation. Please feel free to contact Melissa with any questions about changing a major, registration, general education, or advising.
