Newly Admitted Transfer Students
Congrats! We are excited for you to joing the WKU campus community. This can be a very exciting time for you but also a time filled with questions. Please review the resources provided to help in the transfer to WKU.
Do I Have to Attend an Academic Transitions Program (ATP)?
New transfer students (24 hours or more) are required to complete an online transfer student orientation. For more information, contact the Office of New Student Orientation at (270) 745-4242 or email ATP.
Will My Financial Aid Transfer to WKU?
Federal aid such as Pell Grants and Federal Stafford Loans are transferable from one school to another. Kentucky state aid such as the CAP grant and the Kees Scholarship are transferable as well. University specific scholarships are not typically transferable. If you have additional questions please contact Financial Aid by email or call (270) 745-2755.
Do I Have to Live On Campus?
First year students and sophomores are required to live on campus. Exemptions for this policy include students who are:
- have dependent children
- commuting from a parent's or guardian's permanent address (50 miles or less)
- military veterans of 181 days or more
- 21 years of age or older
- special circumstances
For additional information regarding housing information please contact Housing and Residence Life at (270) 745-4359.
Review Your WKU Unofficial Transcript
The official transcripts you sent to WKU will be evaluated and the courses and credits articulated into their WKU equivalents. The evaluation is typically completed prior to completion of your online Transfer Orientation. This allows the advisor to review the courses you have previously taken.
If you believe that certain credit should have potentially counted as something toward general education requirements or your major/minor at WKU talk to you advisor about those questions. It is important to make sure we do our best to make this transition as seamless as possible.
