Candace Brown, MAG, M.Ed, ABD
Visiting Scientist & Part-Time Instructor
Candace Brown is a doctoral candidate in Health Related Science with a concentration in Gerontology at Virginia Commonwealth University. She holds a Master of Arts in Gerontology from the University of Southern California and a Master of Education, specializing in Adult Education, from Cleveland State University.
Candace is currently the CEO of Seasons of Life, LLC, a company dedicated to the health and wellness of aging persons. It is through this company that health education and group exercise is provided to low income and homebound elders. Her interest in gerontology is vast, as demonstrated through her business affiliation, research spanning from exercise to gerontological education, and teaching both in the classroom and through distance education.
Candace believes the best way to lead is to continually learn how to follow. This practice is best learned through mentorship and volunteerism. She currently serves the community as the Chair to the Emerging Scholar and Professional Organization of the Gerontological Society of America, Past Chair of the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education’s Student Committee, and as a Directorate of the HRSA Preventative Medicine Residency Program for the Environmental Protective Agency.
