GERO 100 Introduction to the Aging Experience
As a gerontologist, Patrice’s areas of expertise include Work at 50+; Aging-in-Place; Reminiscence and Life Review; and Spirituality and Aging.
Patrice retired in October 2013 as AARP Kentucky Associate State Director for Community Initiatives. Her duties included volunteer management, organizing various member events and working with community partners, as well as caregiver outreach and retirement planning education. From 1996 until 2001, she served as Manager of Regional Operations for AARP’s 10-state Southwest Region.
Before going to work for AARP, Patrice was the Executive Director of the Southwest Society on Aging. Patrice also spent 20 years in the for-profit world, working for various employers in international business, manufacturing and medical cost containment. She lived for a short time in Singapore and is adept in multi-cultural situations.
She has a B.S. in Communications and an M.S. in Studies in Aging and is a published author on several subjects in the field of aging. She has been an invited speaker at multiple state and national conferences on these issues.
Patrice lives in a NORC in Louisville Kentucky and is the proud mother of one daughter who recently graduated Magna Cum Laude in Mathematics from Centre College.
