Service Description: The mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. With your help, we can replace fear and fatigue with giggles and smiles by making dreams happen and creating memories these kids and their families will carry with them for years to come. The Louisville office opened its doors in 2001. Because of the generosity of donors and the efforts of volunteers, we have been able to continue our mission; to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength & joy. Since 2001, we have been making children's dreams come true throughout the state. We invite you to share in the power of a wish®, by helping us grant the pending wishes of Kentucky children. Any child between the ages of 2 ½ to 18 with a life-threatening medical condition may be eligible for a wish. The child's treating physician determines whether the child is medically eligible and able to participate in the wish. Once this is determined the wish-granting volunteers visit the wish family and ask the child "If you could have one wish, what would it be?" With the child's imagination guiding the process, Wish Program Managers set out to create the most magical wish experience possible. The volunteer serves as a liaison between the wish family and the Wish Program Manager.
