Service Description: Promotes music education and enriches regional audiences through outstanding performances of music for small orchestra; runs the Bowling Green String Academy which satisfies the demand for string instruction in south central Kentucky by offering instruction on violin, viola, cello and bass as well as class instruction in music history, theory and specialized skills such as fiddling. Conclusive studies show improved math and language skills for students who participate in music study and performance; Bowling Green Youth Orchestras where children ages five to eighteen from eight surrounding counties participate in weekly orchestra rehearsals and perform for audiences throughout the year. Participation in orchestras skills in socialization and teamwork, and teaches them self-discipline and self-esteem; and Inside Music which is an in-school music program surrounding students with music of all kinds in a positive environment that makes learning fun. Instruction is tied to KERA testing and helps ensure students' success.
