Bear Creek Aquatic Camp
Bear Creek Aquatic Camp is located on a bay on scenic Kentucky Lake about 45 minutes south of Paducah, KY. It features 200 acres of waterfront property and two miles of shoreline — the perfect setting for Kentucky's only Girl Scout aquatic camp. At Bear Creek, our older girls take camping to the next level! And this year, more than ever before, you can tailor your session to meet your interests. Like water sports? Try Aquatic Adventures. You and the other girls in your unit will decide if you focus on paddling, sailing, or windsurfing.
Camp Pennyroyal is a gorgeous wooded camp, 15 miles south of Owensboro, KY, featuring hiking trails and a private eight-acre lake for swimming, fishing, nature-watching, and paddling in canoes or funyaks (sit-on-top kayaks). For older girls, the camp has equipment for archery and mountain biking, as well as a teams course and high ropes course. During resident camp, Pennyroyal welcomes primarily girls in elementary and middle school. If you've never been to camp before, you can bring a parent, your whole family, or your Girl Scout troop with you.
Troop Sessions at BC Aquatic Camp
Bear Creek Aquatic Camp offers a special combination of outdoors and service to Cadette, Senior and Ambassador troops in “The Giving Trees.” Troops will venture out of camp most mornings to work on pre-arranged service projects at Land Between the Lakes and in the local community. Our enthralling, enthusiastic, well-trained camp counselors will offer swimming, boating, songs and games while troop volunteers grab a shower and a little break. Adult troop volunteers will care for girls at night – a great fit for girls who are shy with new people or nervous about the outdoors. Click on the links below for more information and a registration form.
Troop Sessions at Camp Pennyroyal
This summer, Pennyroyal is offering troop sessions designed to help Daisies through Cadettes – and their leaders – ease into camping. Leaders need no prior camp training or experience. Counselors will help girls complete some badge requirements depending on girls’ interests. Girls will play with troop friends all day and be cared for at night by the adult troop volunteers they already know and trust – a great fit for girls who are shy with new people or nervous about the outdoors. And we make it easy for adult troop volunteers, too! While the counselors lead your girls during the day, you’ll have the opportunity to take the trainings that prepare you to lead troop camping on your own. Click on the links below for more information and a registration form.
Family Camp Sessions
These special sessions are for families only (campers may not register as individuals). How you define family is up to you. Girls can bring favorite adult gal or guy and make it a “Mom and Me weekend” or a “Getaway with Grandpa.” Or the whole family can join the fun, even baby brother.
Dates: Day and overnight sessions offered throughout summer
Cost: Varies per camp. Please see website for more information
