MISSION
The Food Science Cluster involves the departments of Agriculture, Architectural and Manufacturing Sciences, Biology, and Chemistry, as well as the Water Training Institute, WKU Owensboro and local and regional food industries. Faculty hires have been and will be made in each of the four departments. This group of individuals will work together on research, teaching/curriculum development and outreach/interactions with industry and will help determine the direction and growth of Food Science. We are developing temporary lab space and envision (within a year or two) having a "cluster group lab space" in the Center for Research and Development at WKU. Substantial research outcomes (proposals, grants, and students) are expected. A comprehensive facility is planned for the WKU Agricultural Center.
