Biology Summer Undergraduate Research Experience - BSURE


Announcing the 2015 Biology Summer Undergraduate Research Experience – (BSURE).   BSURE is a summer research opportunity for WKU undergraduate Biology students. The WKU Biology Department will provide up to $1,500 to cover research expenses for WKU Biology faculty-supervised research projects.  All research projects must be conducted in WKU laboratories or on WKU properties (i.e. the WKU Green River Preserve).  All interested undergraduate Biology students who will attend WKU during the 2015-16 academic year are encouraged to apply.  The application deadline is 5:00pm April 30, 2015.

IMPORTANT:  All BSURE participants are required to submit a final report (at the end of the summer) and present the results of their summer research experience at a Biology Department symposium.  Details of the report and the symposium will be provided at a later date.

2015 WKU BSURE Application Materials:

Talk with a WKU faculty member about summer research opportunities and submit an application with the information listed below.  Submit all documents to Dr. King (rodney.king@wku.edu) with the subject line "2015 BSURE Application").

1. A research proposal

2. A detailed budget

3. A budget justification (Why is the money needed?  How will the funds be used to support the research?)  Indicate if you have applied for funding from other resources to support this research.

4. A letter of recommendation from your research mentor.  Ask your mentor to submit the letter directly to Dr. King.

5. Your C.V. with Lastname_Firstname_cv.doc. (Smith_Bill_cv.doc) When you have compiled the requested information, paying close attention to spelling, punctuation, and grammar, email the documents to Dr. King (rodney.king@wku.edu), with the subject line "2015 BSURE Application")
