Habitat for Humanity campus chapter participating in winter break projects
- Wednesday, January 11th, 2012
WKU’s Habitat for Humanity campus chapter will be sending three volunteer groups to Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi for winter break projects Jan. 15-21.
The WKU groups will travel to Athens, Ala., Eastman, Ga., and Meridian, Miss., to assist local Habitat for Humanity chapters with various projects as part of Habitat’s Collegiate Challenge.
Collegiate Challenge is an alternative break trip program run through Habitat for Humanity’s Youth Programs and volunteer mobilization department. The program offers students an opportunity to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity affiliates from across the country during breaks in their academic year.
The program works to build houses and hope in communities. Students learn a great deal about building, issues of substandard housing, working and living within a community, cultural differences in different parts of the country and most of all themselves as a result of the program.
Here is a list of WKU students and faculty participating in the winter break trips:
- Athens, Ala: Ben Phillips, agriculture major from Henderson; Travis Pritchard, construction management major from Munfordville; Brittany Steadman, nursing major from Falmouth; Adam Wilck, architectural science major from Franklin, Tenn.; Lisa Yeager, art major from Eddyville.
