Don Bruce Award for Excellence in Journalism Fund

Don Bruce ’78 parlayed his WKU education and long nights at the College Heights Herald into an award-winning journalism career spanning nearly five decades at some of the most prestigious publications in the country.

A brilliant reporter, copy editor, photographer, headline writer and newsroom leader, Don was as admired for his skills as he was loved for his warm heart and witty sense of humor.

An always-proud WKU alum, Don passed away in September 2023. It is our hope that the Don Bruce Award for Excellence in Journalism will inspire the next generation of WKU students to seek out a journalism career rich in honor, integrity and truth.
