James Christopher Holman was born in Bowling Green, KY on January 6, 1973 to James Randall and Melba Wilson Holman. Chris grew up with his sisters, Connie Holman Greathouse and Tracy Holman Morrison, on the family farm in the rural community of Provo, KY in Butler county. He was a member of Monticello Baptist Church. Chris loved farm life and the outdoors, he was a country boy through and through and loved spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and raising his cows. In the early years, Chris helped his dad on the farm with livestock and crops. He was involved with the 4-H program and loved showing his lamb projects. He graduated from Butler County High School (1991) where he was a member of the future farmers of America, taking an active leadership role in chairing committees and serving as chapter reporter. Chris worked diligently to improve his agricultural knowledge and earned an American FFA Degree in 1994. Chris graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1995 with a Bachelor’s in Agricultural Economics.  While at UK he was a member of the AGR fraternity where he was appointed Treasurer. Chris remained active with the chapter after graduation serving on the AGR Alumni Board from 2000-2003. Chris loved to travel and was excited to study agriculture and economics in Japan, Thailand, and Ireland. After graduation, he worked in agricultural financing with Farm Credit from 1996-2016. Chris continued to further his education and earned his Master’s in Business Administration from Western Kentucky University in 2006, and attended specialized Ag Lending Schools at Clemson University and the University of Tennessee at Martin. In 2016, Chris joined Morgantown Bank and Trust as the Senior Agricultural Officer.

Chris loved spending time with his son, Jackson “Jack” Holman on their beloved Blue Mist Farm, ATV riding, restoring his grandfather’s 1941 Farmall H tractor, and kayaking the Green RIver.

To honor his legacy, family and friends established the James Christopher Holman Scholarship Fund. Through this fund, future Hilltoppers from Butler County studying business or agriculture are provided encouragement, and Chris's memory lives on in perpetuity.
