Roger and Sue Miller Family Scholarship Fund

Roger Ellis Miller, age 84, was born January 14, 1939 in Tompkinsville, KY and passed away at Ahava Health Care Center in Clarksville, TN on October 15, 2023. He was the youngest of eight children born to Doc and Marie Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Juanita Meredith, Alicia Bowman, and Sue Perkins; his brothers Jim Tom, Jack, George and David; and a son, Skip Boring.

Roger's family moved to Bowling Green when he was eight years old, and he graduated from Alvaton High School in 1957. Immediately after graduation he began his service in the Army from 1957 to 1964. He met the love of life in August 1968, and they married on January 11, 1969.

After his military service, Roger worked for the United States Post Office where he retired in 2000. He also proudly served as the Commander of the American Legion Post 23 for 36 years where he, along with the wonderful men and women with whom he surrounded himself, tirelessly advocated for our veterans and gave back to the community in numerous ways. He was a member of Three Springs Baptist Church, American Legion Post 23, VFW, DAV and Goshen Lodge 508. He was also a 37-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous and a sponsor and loyal friend to many in recovery. Roger’s priorities were his faith, his family, our veterans, and his community. He served on several local and national boards where he devoted his time to helping others. He was an avid WKU fan and enjoyed attending games to cheer on his beloved Hilltoppers.

Roger is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sue Davis Miller, daughter Melissa Miller Johnson, grandson Justin Mitchell Johnson (Kendra), and his beloved canine companion Becky.

To honor his memory, his family created the Roger and Sue Miller Family Scholarship Fund at the College Heights Foundation at Western Kentucky University. Through this fund his passion for helping others can live on as it furthers the education of our youth.
