Sydney Cassady Memorial Scholarship Fund

Sydney Brooke Cassady was born on October 8, 2000 in Bowling Green, Kentucky to Kevin and Stacey Cassady and had two siblings, Kacey and Spencer. She was a senior at the University of Kentucky majoring in Foreign Language and International Economics. Prior to attending UK, Sydney graduated from South Warren High School where she played tennis, volleyball, and basketball. She excelled on the tennis court where she won a record four straight doubles championships and holds the school record for career wins. She was named the 2018 Kentucky Super Preps Girls Tennis Player of the Year as a junior.

Sydney was a Governor’s Scholar, was involved in the Greenwood Park Church of Christ Youth Group and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. At UK, Sydney was involved in Alpha Delta Pi and volunteered her time with numerous charitable causes. She had gone on numerous mission trips to Central and South America and used her ability to speak Spanish fluently to help elementary school students in Lexington, who didn’t speak or understand English, communicate with their teachers and peers.

Syndey passed away tragically in a car crash on Monday, November 14, 2022 at the age of 22.

To honor her memory, friends and family established the Sydney Cassady Memorial Scholarship Fund. The fund assists deserving students from South Warren High School to obtain a higher education. Through this fund, Sydney's legacy lives on in perpetuity.
