Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling

The following sites have been approved by the Clinical Coordinator and meet the requirement for maintaining a clinical site as described in the Practicum & Internship Manual. Local Sites (in Bowling Green, Kentucky)

  • Alliance Counseling Associates  #
    Large group practice providing services that integrate many models of counseling, therapy, and wellness including mindfulness meditation, yoga, biofeedback, essential oil consultations, and sound massage.
  • Balance Therapeutic Care *
    Identify and address behavioral and mental health issues including intakes, assessment, treatment planning, diagnosis, providing therapy through evidence based models, and working cooperatively with other treatment team members.
  • BRASS Domestic Violence Shelter & Program ^
    Crisis Intervention with clients who enter the Domestic Violence Shelter. Individual, group, and play therapy sessions for residential and non-residential clients across 10 counties.
  • Cognitive Refinery *
    Private group practice setting with clients experiencing different mental health disorders.
    Individual, family, and possible couples counseling experience.
  • Drakes Creek Middle School
    Drakes Creek Middle School is a public school in Bowling Green, KY. An LPCC spends three school days at the middle school and spends the remaining two days at Greenwood High School.
  • FamilyWorks Therapy and Consultation Services(Alvaton, KY) # *
    Community-based individual and family counseling with children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Fuller Life Counseling Partners (Bowling Green,KY)
    A small group practice that provides mental health and substance abuse services. Services are provided to children, adults, and families. Evidence based practices such as EMDR, Brainspotting, and DBT are offered. Services are offered both individually and in groups.
  • Heritage Children's Service *
    A private child caring agency that places youth in out of home care and provides therapeutic services and case management to those youth in achieving the youth's permanency goals. 
  • Hope Harbor *
    A sexual assault recovery center dedicated to meeting the needs of those that have been affected by sexual violence and help facilitate group session at a local jail through Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA). 
  • HOTEL INC *
    Services to homeless, housing instable, and food insecure households. Counseling opportunities can take place in through mental health support throughout the organization's campus and street-based outreach.
  • Johnson Counseling LLC*
    Johnson Counseling LLC is a private practice that provides mental health services to children, adults, families, and couples. Jenni currently practices as a child and family therapist with more than 15 years of experience in the helping profession. Primary therapeutic approaches include Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Jenni is certified in EMDR- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing- for trauma treatment. Substance abuse services and anger-management psychoeducation also provided.
  • JourneyPure Bowling Green*
    Intensive outpatient treatment for chemical dependency. Opportunities for group, individual, family therapy as well as intakes and discharge planning.

  • LifeSkills Addictions Services #
    Outpatient servicing a wide variety of adult clients throughout 10 counties. Issues range from mild to severe mental health concerns and substance abuse disorders. Limited family hours but possible through other LifeSkills departments.
  • LifeSkills Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit *
    Inpatient facility addressing short-term crisis stabilization. Issues include suicide ideation. Limited family hours.
  • LifeSkills Adult Services *
    Outpatient mental health clinic offering a full variety of services for adults with severe emotional and behavioral disorders.
  • LifeSkills Children's Crisis Stabilization Unit # *
    Small inpatient facility for children ages 5-17 who are experiencing a crisis situation such as suicidal or homicidal ideation; includes individual, group, and family counseling services.
  • LifeSkills Child & Family #
    Outpatient behavioral health clinic at community mental health center targeting clients ages 0-18 in home, school and clinic. Providing individual, family and collateral therapies to clients with mental health and behavior issues.
  • LifeSkills Haven4Change # *
    Residential recovery center for women and their children. Inpatient individual, family, and group counseling for substance use disorder (SUD) or co-occuring SUD and mental health concerns.
  • LifeSkills Park Place Recovery Center for Men  
    Residential recovery center for men. Inpatient individual, family, and group counseling for substance use disorder (SUD) or co-occuring SUD and mental health concerns.
  • LifeSkills Summer Program
    Intensive outpatient summer program for children (5-17yo) with severe emotional and behavioral disorders. Children receive daily group therapy, individual therapy once to twice a week, and some family therapy with siblings and possibly parents. This is a summer-only site.
  • More To Life Integrative Mental Health *
    Private group practice specializing in integrative mental health (counseling, brain health, hypnotherapy) providing individual and couples therapy as well as the state Batterers Intervention Program for those individuals who have Domestic Violence Orders.  
  • Rivendell Behavioral Health Services # *
    Large inpatient hospital providing general psychiatric stabilization and medication management for pre-teens, adolescents, adolescent and adult substance abuse, and geriatric patients. Therapeutic focus includes mental health, substance abuse, and sexual abuse/perpetrators. Includes individual, group, and family counseling services.
  • SAFY
    SAFY is a therapeutic foster care agency that provides therapy to children that have been removed from their home due to abuse or neglect and placed in foster care. We also have an Independent Living program to help you develop skills to successfully live on their own after they age out of foster care. All youth are assessed at placement and those that have a mental health diagnosis receive therapy. Therapy is provided by staff that are independently licensed or working towards licensure. All interns are supervised by a Treatment Director with a minimum of 5 years in the field. An intern would have the opportunity to do assessments- diagnosis- TX planning and individual and family therapy.

  • Talley Family Counseling Center(TFCC)  # *
    Individual, family, and group counseling with children or adults; includes outreach to local schools and the Housing Authority after-school program. Housed in Gary A. Ransdell Hall on WKU campus.
  • The Bridge to Recovery # ^
    Internships for full-time employees only. A transformational residential program (2-12 weeks) specializing in healing individuals by addressing the core causes of anxiety, depression, and compulsive behaviors. Primarily uses group therapy for treatment; monthly family program.
  • WKU Counseling Center  
    Individual or group counseling services for WKU students addressing a broad range of issues including depression, anxiety, homesickness, attention difficulties, etc.

    Rural, mental health group practice for individual, couples, and family counseling. Also provides court-referred services and a Therapeutic Rehabilitation Program (TRP) for adolescents and teens who need additional therapy in a day-treatment setting.

    A team of therapists dedicated to providing high quality, modern mental and relational health care to the Nashville community. Internship program is small, highly selective, and geared towards exceptional students interested in developing their own private practice.
  • Nelson County Schools, Clinical Mental Health Services
    Clinical Mental Health Services are offered throughout the Nelson County School District. Referrals for clinical services are made from school counselors, across the district, once mental health needs have been identified and the parent has agreed that a referral should be made.
  • New Adventures Counseling (Cincinnati, OH)
    Mental health counseling to children and families focusing on the therapeutic needs of each individual in the field of Adventure Therapy.
  • A New Start, LLC (Henderson, Ky)
    A New Start provides medication management and individual and group behavioral therapy for individuals diagnosed with substance abuse.  The agency uses a 12-step program and peer support services.
