Nonverbal Communication
Session Format:
One 2–Hour Session
Introduction
Nonverbal communication involves the messages people send through such actions as gestures, facial expressions, posture, and appearance. Nonverbal cues provide accurate information about personal traits. Impression formation is about how others form impressions of you and what you can do to exercise conscious control over those impressions. Impression management is about your conscious attempts to exercise control over selected communicative behaviors and cues – particularly nonverbal cues – for purposes of making a desired impression. Effective skills in impression formation and impression management can be helpful in producing a desired work environment.
