Emotional Intelligence
Session Format:
4 hours total (One 4-Hour Session)
Introduction
Emotional intelligence has been defined as achieving goals through the ability to manage feelings and emotions; to be empathetic to others which leads to influence; to motivate others through conscientious and ethical behavior. An emotionally intelligent person knows how to establish good relationships through the use of positive emotions and the management of negative ones. One of the more popular approaches of EI (Daniel Goleman’s) identifies five components:
- Self Awareness
- Self Regulation/Mood Management
- Motivation (self)
- Empathy
- Managing Relationships/Social Skills
Objectives
The participants will: (1) understand what emotional intelligence is and why it is so important for personal and professional success, (2) recognize and understand the five competencies which build on each other to raise an individual’s EI level, (3) listen to and employ their emotions for better decision making.
