Value Stream Mapping

Session Format:

One 4 Hour Session

Introduction

Value stream mapping is a lean manufacturing technique used to analyze the flow of materials and information currently required to bring a product or service to a consumer. At Toyota, where the technique originated, it is known as "material and information flow mapping".

Objectives

  • Create a graphical look at all of the actions currently performed to bring a product or a service to a customer.
  • Identify Value Added Activities
  • Identify Waste (in motion and action)
  • Once all activities are identified, projects and teams are developed to eliminate the waste
