Bachelor of Science in Business Economics

The Department of Economics offers a major in specialized business economics. The business economics major combines courses in economics with those in accounting, finance, information systems, management, marketing, and quantitative business analysis. This unique array of courses leads to a B.S. degree and provides the student with both the general and specific skill desired by employers.

The major in Business Economics requires 73 hours in professional and elective courses and leads to a Bachelor of Science degree.  Business Economics majors must complete admission requirements and core courses for the Gordon Ford College of Business. The additional courses needed to complete the degree include:

  • ECON 302 - Microeconomic Theory
  • ECON 303 - Macroeconomic Theory
  • ECON 306 - Statistical Analysis
  • ECON 414 - Managerial Economics
  • ECON 465 - Regression Econometric or ECON 480 - Economic Forecasting
  • ECON 464 - Mathematical Economics or MATH 119 - Fund of Calculus or
    MATH 116 - College Algebra
  • ECON 499 - Senior Assessment-Econ
  • ECON ELECTIVE*
  • ECON ELECTIVE*
  • ECON ELECTIVE*
  • ECON ELECTIVE*
  • ECON ELECTIVE*
  • PROFESSIONAL ELECTIVE**

*Economics electives may be chosen from 300 and 400 level economics courses not already required for the major.

**The professional elective may be chosen from any 300 or 400 level course within the Gordon Ford College of Business not already required for the major.
