The Student Research Council is pleased to announce the dates for the third annual REACH Week next spring. REACH [Research Experiences and Creative Heights] Week is our celebration of graduate and undergraduate student research and creative engagement.

REACH Week programming is scheduled for March 17-22, 2014. The culminating event, the 44th annual WKU Student Research Conference, is scheduled for Saturday, March 22.

Please include the dates in your syllabi and encourage your students to participate in REACH Week events, especially the student conference on March 22. A call for conference judges will come in a few months, so please consider volunteering and hold the date.

Taking place over the course of over two decades, City of God tells the story of a shanty town favela of Rio de Janeiro from the viewpoint of a boy named Rocket who grows up there and demonstrates the desperation and violence inherent in the slums. Based on a true story, the movie depicts drug abuse, violent crime, and a boy's struggle to free himself from the slum’s grasp.
