The Lost River Cave and Valley, 2010

Lost River Cave and Valley is a unique, historic eco-tourism site in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  The 68-acre park hosts the state's only underground boat tour, as well as providing area visitors and the local community with access to an urban wildlife and nature preserve, green space, and a trail system.  The Friends of the Lost River, Inc., a non-profit organization, maintains this natural and historic landmark, and strives to teach visitors from all over the country and around the globe the history, local culture, karst geology, and ecology of Bowling Green.  The internship position at Lost River Cave and Valley provides students with valuable first-hand experience in both the tourism industry and a non-profit organization, as well as an active participation in biological, historical, geological, ecological, and cultural preservation and protection on a local, state, and national level, serving to benefit students' specific academic major studies as well as professional development as a whole in a fun and rewarding work environment.
