Kaitlyn interned in Washington D.C. at the Smithsonian Institution's Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage which houses the Ralph Rinzler Folklife Archives. The Ralph Rinzler Folklife Archives houses several major collections that consist of written, audio and visual records of projects and exhibits sponsored by the Smithsonian Institution. As an archival and curatorial intern she processed three different collections to be placed in the repository: The J. Scott Odell Collection, The Collector Records Collection and the Moses Asch Collection. With this internship she also trained other interns in the archival process including surveying large amounts of records, creating a formal hierarchy, imposing a physical arrangement of the records and preserving the collection.
