Thermo-DXR Raman Micrscope

Chemical analysis of powders and single crystals. Used for static and real-time studies.

Rigaku Miniflex II X-ray Diffractometer

Used for phase and structural analaysis of crystalline materials.

Bruker APEX II Quazar

A micro-focus X-ray source and CCD detector, this diffractometer is used to solve the atomic structure of crystals.

STA 449 F1 Jupiter Simultaneous TG-DSC

Combines Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) or Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) with Thermogravimetry (TG).

Gamma-ray Spectrometer

Used to aid in finger printing rock lithologies.

Petrgraphic Microscopes

An array of petrographic microscopes used for research and teaching.

Thin Section Prep Lab

For student and faculty use in preparing rocks and minerals for chemical and crystallographic studies.

Crystal Kinetics Laboratory

Monitor crystal dynamics in operando during geochemical and industrial processes.  This lab is used for synthesis of a wide array of Earth and engineered materials.
