I have researched and published primarily in American Literature, with a focus on women writers. Recent papers have been on works of Toni Morrison, Mark Twain, and Harper Lee. I am currently interested in popular culture, and delivered a paper on the television series "The Good Wife" and the PCAS/ACAS conference last year. I am currently working on a presentation on the poetry of Davis McCombs.
My teaching philosophy is that we are all learners, and that our learning should be lifelong. I believe that learners need two qualities above all: curiosity and perisistence. I think good teachers must strive to demonstrate these and impart them to their students. And, becasue their students must carry them forward, their teachers must also assure strong command of language and communication.
My undergraduate degree is from Transylvania University, with an M.A. and PH.D. from the Univesity of Louisville.
I have taught at Lindsey Wilson College, Kentucky State University, and Midway College.
