Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  How will I be notified of my admission decision?

A:  Admission decisions (both admitted and not admitted) will be notified through email as well as an official letter to the applicant’s permanent home address.

Q:  I am a first-semester freshman, therefore I do not yet have a college GPA.  Will you instead take my high school academic information, or my college GPA from dual-credit courses I took during high school?

A:  No.  The earliest opportunity for first-semester freshmen to apply to the Honors College is after the completion of their first semester as a full-time college student.

Q:  I have only been a college student for one year, therefore I have not had the opportunity to get very involved in campus activities.  Should I include high school activities on my application?

A:  The Admissions Committee looks for applicants who display sustained dedication and a depth of involvement in extracurricular activities.  If that includes something you were involved in during high school, feel free to add it to your application.

Q:  I am a transfer student who is still attending another university, therefore it is not convenient for me to come into the Honors College for the Supplemental Academic Review.  Is there any other way I can complete this component?

A:  Yes.  The Honors College Academic Advisor can speak with you over the phone.  When scheduling your Academic Review, request a phone appointment.
