Honors College

Faculty

Any WKU faculty members who are interested in studying abroad through the Honors College have several options.

Visiting Faculty at Harlaxton College

WKU has a partnership with Harlaxton College in Grantham, England, owned by the University of Evansville. Each semester, one WKU faculty member teaches a nine-hour course load at Harlaxton College. In addition to teaching classes, visiting faculty live, eat, and travel with students. All full-time tenured or tenure-track WKU faculty are eligible to apply. The application process begins within the faculty member’s department and college before reaching the Honors College.

Visit the Harlaxton College website to learn more about the college in general.

Honors Study Abroad Trip

In order to be approved for a faculty-led study abroad trip at WKU, faculty must apply through the Study Abroad & Global Learning Office. But first, it is important to get your trip approved through the Honors College. To make the proposed trip worth Honors credit, faculty must work directly with Dr. Motley, Assistant Director of Academics at the Honors College. Faculty will need to determine why they want to host an Honors Study Abroad Trip, and what will set the experience apart as an Honors one. Contact Dr. Motley in the Honors College at 270.745.2081 or clay.motley@wku.edu.

Honors Study Abroad Course

KIIS (Kentucky Institute for International Studies) is a program that allows faculty to teach Honors sections on study abroad trips. To learn more about KIIS, visit the KIIS website.
