Honors College at WKU

    Spain

In the spring semester of 2010, Leslye Davis, a WKU Honors student, and students from several universities in Kentucky traveled to Segovia, Spain with the Kentuky International Institute for Studies Abroad.

Students in this program took courses about Spanish art, history, literature, conversation, and culture. But, their experiences went much deeper than a classroom. Living with a Spanish family, eating food in Spanish restaurants, shopping in Spanish groceries, and traveling all across the country helped students to learn the language and understand the culture.

"Living in a foreign country forced me to step outside of my comfort zone and experience an entirely new lifestyle. Looking back, simple things like taking the subway for the first time or asking a stranger for directions prepared me a great deal for the independent life I will lead after graduating from WKU," Davis said.
