Mitzi Allen attends Allscripts regional meeting

Mitzi Allen attended the Allscripts Professional Midwest/Midsouth Regional User Meeting in Raleigh, NC on March 11, 2011. The conference was held to provide EHR users with additional insight and clarification on how and what to document for Meaningful Use. Meaningful Use means providers need to show they are using certified EHR technology in ways that can be measured significantly in quality and quantity.

The Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs provide a financial incentive for the "meaningful use" of certified EHR technology to achieve health and efficiency goals. By putting into action and meaningfully using an EHR system, providers will reap benefits beyond financial incentives-such as reduction in errors, availability of records and data, reminders and alerts, clinical decision support, and e-prescribing/refill automation.

WKUHS is not eligible for these incentives, because we do not accept Medicare or Medicaid. We can benefit by implementing better documentation practices, reducing clinical errors and producing beneficial reports from our EHR system.
