AARC provides students with the academic support necessary to achieve their academic goals, including resources for academic assistance, The Learning Center, and Best Expectation Programs.

Distinguished Minority Fellows (DMF) Program

The DMF program is designed to help minority students attain graduate degrees by providing tuition as well as employment opportunities. Applications are accepted once annually in the spring for admission for the following fall semester.

Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC)

EOC is a TRiO program that provides counseling and information on college admissions to low income and first-generation adults, age 19 or older, who desire to enter, reenter, or continue a program of post-secondary education. An important objective of the program is to counsel participants on financial aid options, including basic financial planning skills, and to assist in the application process.

International Student Office

Military Student Services

Military Student Services acts as a hub of information and assistance to veterans, military students, and their dependents attending WKU. They offer textbooks through the Textbooks for Troops program, assistance with GoArmyEd, and other tuition assistance. They also offer time with WKU’s therapy dog.

 Student Support Services (SSS)

Undergraduates who meet federal income and first-generation guidelines are eligible for services such as tutoring, advising, transition counseling, graduation planning, and more. SSS students also benefit from priority registration and financial assistance.

Veterans Upward Bound (VUB)

VUB is a free educational program that helps low-income veterans and veterans who are first-generation college students get admitted to colleges and vocational schools. VUB also offers students support services, including academic advising, financial aid counseling, help with getting GI Bill benefits, and help with filling out school admissions applications, scholarships, gas stipends, and more.

Child Care Centers

Child Care Centers operates a combination Early Head Start, Head Start, and nonprofit child care program for children six-weeks to five-years old and is open to university and community members. No fee is charged for half-day Head Start or Early Head Start services.

Need a boost to your mental, physical, or nutritional health? Here are some resources for you:


 Counseling and Testing Center

The Counseling and Testing Center is here to help by offering services to strengthen students’ capacity to tolerate distress, form healthy relationships, and seek healthy expressions of their ideals and values. Students pay a one-time, $20 fee, and services are free thereafter.

Health Services

Graves Gilbert Clinic at WKU offers services including Office Visits, Psychiatric Mental Health services, Women and Men’s Health services, ECG, Laboratory services, X-Ray, Allergy Shot Administration, Immunizations, STI Testing/Treatment, Contraceptives, Physicals, DOT Physicals, Drug Screenings, Occupational Health, Health Education, and Wellness Services.

Full-time students’ tuition includes membership to the Preston Center, which offers students one of the finest recreational sports facilities in the country. Students can get active in fitness programs, instructional services, and more.

WellU: Student Wellness Program

Students can earn scholarship money and prizes through WellU, a program designed to connect students with programs and services that promote healthy habits. WellU encourages students get enough sleep, exercise regularly,  eat healthy, cultivate healthy social habits, and engage in campus programs because these students "tend to graduate sooner, do better in school and have a higher quality of life."

Kentucky Street Apartments

The Kentucky Street Apartments are owned and operated by the WKU Housing and Residence Life. This on-campus apartment option allows students to have the experience of living off-campus with the convenience of living close to their classes. Emergency Preparedness

WKU created the Emergency Preparedness website to be a place where students, faculty, staff, and the community can visit to find resources related to campus safety, security, emergency preparedness and more. Visit to sign up for text alerts, learn about surviving campus violence, review weather emergency protocols, and more.


Office of Student Conduct

Report Sexual Misconduct

Established to ensure that disruptions to the university community are handled in an educational, fair, and dignified manner, the Office of Student Conduct provides resources to identify and report harassment and discrimination against any student. They also share Student Rights and Responsibilities and the WKU Discrimination and Harassment Policy online.

Safe Spaces

WKU Diversity and Community studies offers a list of designated Safe Spaces where students can relax and be able to fully express themselves, without fear of being made to feel uncomfortable, unwelcome, or unsafe on account of biological sex, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, cultural background, religious affiliation, age, or physical or mental ability.

Student Escort Service (The Escort)

The Escort is an on-campus service provided for the protection of students, faculty, staff, and visitors of WKU. Individuals are urged not to walk alone and to practice personal security precautions, especially during evening/early morning hours. When an escort is requested, every effort is made to accommodate the request. Escorts will be provided from dusk until dawn.

WKUPD supports WKU’s safety objectives by providing crime prevention programming, preserving the peace, protecting life and property, and fairly and impartially enforcing regulations of the university, ordinances of Bowling Green, and statutes of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

 Black Leaders Advocating for the Community (BLAC)

BLAC is a network of representatives from different areas of the community, including churches, sororities, fraternities, civic groups, nonprofits, and educational institutions. The group meets on the 3rd Monday of Jan., March, May, July, Sept., and Nov. to discuss resources available to the community and ways they can work together as individuals or with their organizations.

Bowling Green Fairness Coalition

The Bowling Green Fairness Coalition is a localization of the statewide campaign working to protect citizens against discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.  Bowling Green Fairness meets the 2nd Monday Monthly at 6pm in Cherry Hall Room 203A.

Coalition for Social Justice (CSJ)

CSJ provides social capital and resources to support campus activism. Members propose ideas for movements in an open environment and network with other campus and community initiatives to address complex social issues.

Pakistani Student Association (PSA)

PSA's mission is to provide a channel through which students and faculty can come together to host events that raise awareness about Pakistan and promote its rich cultural heritage.

 Project Grow: Community Garden

Project Grow, at the Office of Sustainability, provides a community atmosphere in which students can learn to grow their own food and even rent a plot of land for this purpose.

 Student Veteran Alliance (SVA)

SVA’s mission is to provide military veterans with the resources, support, and advocacy needed to succeed in higher education. SVA provides direct assistance to veterans through peer to peer support, networking opportunities, academic support, veteran specific assistance, and social events.

Big Red Bikes seeks to provide alternative transportation to WKU students, faculty, and staff. Bicycle rental is free, and the rental period is 3 weeks. Bike rental may be renewed if there is no waiting list for rentals.

Community Action of Southern Kentucky Child Care Services strengthen both children and parents by providing constructive, quality care for children six-weeks of age and older. This service provides educational activities, nutritional meals, and a clean and safe environment for children at reasonable fees. Head Start is offered for children 3 – 4 years of age and provides additional health and accessibility services.

The information in the Barren River Area Renter's Handbook will help you protect yourself and your family.  This handbook is part of a movement to educate and empower renters in the Barren River Area. It provides basic information to help renters protect their rights. Printed handbooks are available at the WKU ALIVE Center.

HANDS is a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved credit counseling agency that offers advice on buying a home, renting, defaults, foreclosures, and credit issues.

The HABG provides housing to individuals and families who face challenges relating to the cost of housing, healthcare, transportation, and education. Rent is based on 30% of the adjusted gross income and each household receives a utility allowance which is deducted from rent.

 Neighborhood & Community Services Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program

The Section 8 Program is a federally funded program that operates within the city limits of Bowling Green. The primary goal of the Section 8 program is rental assistance to persons of very low income, allowing them to rent existing permanent market housing that is decent, safe, and sanitary. Individual subsidy is calculated using household income.

BGS offers door-to-door transportation service to and from the Nashville International Airport. They also offer specialized transportation from Bowling Green to your desired destination. Students can easily reserve a shuttle on the BGS website with 24-hour notice.

GO BG TransitGoBG bus on map

GO BG Transit provides fixed-route bus service in the city of Bowling Green. All buses are ADA accessible, and ADA Complementary Paratransit service is available to eligible persons who complete the evaluation process. Student passes are $50 a semester. GO BG also offers the Work Access Pass Program.
