What is Altiris?
Altiris is a family of software products from Symantec Corp. WKU purchased Altiris Client Management Suite made up of: inventory, software management and delivery, patch management, remote assistance, reporting, and computer migrations/deployment.
How is Altiris used?
WKU uses Altiris to deploy our computer images, install software, aid with support issues, and collect inventory information.
What changes will I see on my computer because of Altiris?
Altiris will have a very minimal impact on your computer. Altiris runs in the background, silently and will not be visible or interfere with your day-to-day operation.
On what systems is Altiris installed?
Altiris can be installed on Windows machines (version 2000 and newer), Macintosh computers (OSX 10.4 and newer), and will be installed on both laptops and desktops.

Can Altiris be used to monitor activity on my computer?
The functionality of Altiris is designed to support and aid our users, not monitor them. If you need IT to view your computer you will be asked to visit the Go To Assist website to grant us permission to view your screen. The Altiris program has no log of web traffic and only collects data on Hardware/Software resources (inventory information).
Can I install/uninstall Altiris?
The Altiris software is being installed across campus in a staged rollout. The program will be installed on your computer, either remotely or in person, over the next several months. Once installed Altiris will stay on the machine for the duration of its use.
