February 2015

Civil War Field Trip

A truly special Civil War experience. Stations will be staffed by costumed docents. Students will engage in hands-on activities while exploring the life of a soldier, practicing handwriting of the period, learning to dance, and even conversing with Jose Underwood, as she recounts life in Civil War Bowling Green. Field trips are from 9 AM to11 AM. Cost is $5.00 per student. Click on a date for reservation request.  Complete form and submit. A conformation e-mail will be sent within one business day. Art Field Trip

The Museum is filled with art during the month of March. Students explore two shows featuring over 400 pieces of art work. The US Bank Exhibit showcases work by professional and amateur artists. VSA Side by Side exhibits collaborative work of children and professional artists. After viewing both exhibits, artist Lynne Ferguson guides students to complete a study of one work in the Museum galleries. Field trips are from 9 AM to 11 AM. Cost is $5.00 per student. Early American, Early Kentucky Field Trip

In April 2013, fifth grade teachers  referred to Early America, Early KY as, " A wonderful review for testing!"  EAEK provides an engaging, informative, hands-on experience for 5th Graders. Five different learning stations through out the museum highlight life from 1750 to 1850.  Stations are Colonial America, Early Kentucky Life, KY Native Americans, Primary and Secondary Sources, and Life for African Americans.  Each station is run by a costumed docent, with several varied activities.   EAEK field trips are from 8:45 to 11:30.
