Southern Kentucky Book Fest is a two day community event. Day 1 is Children’s Day, and it’s a full day devoted to school children in grades K-12, librarians, and educators. Students have the opportunity to meet and hear from their favorite authors, participate in dramatic and musical performances, and exercise their creativity in the make and do area. It’s lots of fun for teachers and parents too! In 2017, Children’s Day will be on Friday, April 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Registration information and schedules for Children’s Day and the Teen Writers Conference for 2017 will be available this winter.

If you would like to bring your class to Children’s Day, please contact Lisa Rice at 270-781-4882, ext. 202.

  • Location: Knicely Conference Center
  • Time: 9:00am - 2:00pm

The Teen Writers Conference allows teens to learn writing tips and tricks from some of the best in the business. Workshops covering everything from character development to setting to revision are offered each year, allowing teens to see firsthand what it takes to become a successful author.

Instructors, librarians, and teachers are invited to bring their classes to this free day of workshops. Students will be able to attend interactive panel discussions throughout the day, and all authors will have books available for sale. Concessions will be available for lunch on site.

A link to register and a workshop schedule will be available this winter.
9:00am - 3:30pm
  • Location: Knicely Conference Center
  • Time: 9:00am - 3:30pm

The Kentucky Writers Conference is made possible through the generous support of Dollar General. Authors who will be participating in the Book Fest on Saturday, April 22, 2017 will give attendees at the Writers Conference the benefit of their wisdom on Friday, April 21, 2017. Free workshops on a variety of writing topics will be presented during this day-long event. Sessions run for 75 minutes and the day begins at 9:00am and ends at 3:30pm. The conference is open to anyone who would like to attend. Space is limited. Registration will be open by February.

We are also happy to offer a Writers Conference for Teens (as part of the Kentucky Writers Conference) a program developed specifically for area high school students. Teachers interested in having their 9-12 grade students participate will be able to register later this year.

The Kentucky Writers Conference program and a link to register for the conference will appear below by February. Registrants will receive an email notice regarding updates.
