You Belong to Us is a new memoir by WKU English professor Molly McCaffrey, and how she was given up for adoption at six weeks old. Thirty years later she reconnects with her birth family to find her mother worked in the ward at the hospital where she was born, married her birthfather and had four more children. In reconnecting she found she had a family she never knew about, and one far different from her upbringing in different social class, education level, culture, etc. The memoir covers a decade of reconnecting with this family and trying to find common ground, asking about the very connection between blood relatives.
