His book Chinese Martial Arts: From Antiquity to the Twenty-First Century looks at the transformation of Chinese martial arts from its beginnings as an essential military practice to self-defense today, including narratives and charts from the first female martial artist, fighting techniques from the Bronze age to today, and the influence martial arts had on the rise and fall of empires.
