Bio

Charles H. Smith has been Science Librarian for the Department of Library Public Services since March 1995. He has held the rank of Professor since 2004. His responsibilities include collection development, research instruction and personal and electronic liaison services for seven Ogden College departments, maintenance of the maps and atlases collection, general reference desk service, and departmental and university committee and task force involvement. Dr. Smith also has an active research and writing career, primarily in the fields of evolutionary biology, geography, history of science, and bibliography (he has published five books and several dozen professional articles). He has created and maintains a dozen well-visited educational and research websites on natural history, bibliographic, historical, and music subjects.
