Bio
Jack G. Montgomery, Professor and Collection Services Coordinator has been at Western Kentucky University Libraries since 1998. Jack is a member of the Kentucky Library Association and a conference director for the annual Charleston Conference Issues in Book and Serial Acquisition. He writes and edits a regular column for the Against the Grain professional magazine and been professionally speaking at the Charleston Conference, ALA, KLA and other professional programs since 1989. In 2005, his book with co-author Eleanor I. Cook, Conflict Management for Libraries: a strategy for a positive, productive workplace was published by ALA Editions. Jack is an amateur folklorist and his book, American Shamans: journeys with traditional healers was published in 2008 by BUSCA Press. Jack has been a professional musician since 1969 and has released four CDs of his original and traditional folk music since 2002.
Jack provides coordination for the library’s collection development program, supervises the Acquisitions Unit of the Department of Library Technical Services and is cross-posted to the Department of Library Public Services. He also manages the library’s gifts-in-kind and book repair programs. He provides reference services and is the library’s official liaison for the Religion, Philosophy, African-American and Asian Studies departments and programs.
