Studying Mathematics at WKU

Departmental curricular options offer both graduate and undergraduate degrees in Mathematics. Our programs emphasize sound instruction, abundant study support, and a fertile learning environment geared to engage inquiry, and to enhance student achievement and success in learning and applying mathematics.  To see the curricula involved in each of our majors, minors, certificates, or Masters programs, click on the "Programs" pull-down menu on the navigation bar.

Support for Student Success in Mathematics

The Mathematics Department provides a Math Help Lab in CoHH 2124 to provide free tutoring to students taking classes in our department, especially those taking general education mathematics courses.  Also, the Mathematics Department provides a Math Testing Center in CoHH 2126 (745-2141) for students to take their online MATH 116 College Algebra exams and to retake Math Placement Exams, if eligible, in a proctored environment.

Dr. Molly Dunkum named a CPE Faculty Collaborative Fellow

Dr. Molly Dunkum was named one of two Faculty Collaborative Fellow by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education. The award is for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 academic years, and carries its own honorarium and travel funds.

2015 Math Symposium Dates Announced

The 35th Annual Mathematics Symposium will be held November 13th and 14th in Snell Hall on WKU's main campus. This year's keynote speaker is Professor Henry Segerman of Oklahoma State University. Students are encouraged to submit abstracts.

Robin Ayers Receives the 2015 Spirit of Western Award

At the 2015 WKU President's Convocation, Robin Ayers was named the recipient of the 14th Spirit of Western Award.
