Public Health Graduate Receives Award

Mr. Shailesh Advani received the Outstanding Student of the Year Award from the Committee on Affiliates (CoA). This award is designed to recognize outstanding involvement of an undergraduate or graduate student in a state, regional and/or national public health association.

Shailesh is a 2011 graduate student in the MPH Program and is currently a student in the PhD program in Epidemiology at the University of Texas at Houston.

The CoA Awards Ceremony and Reception was held at the American Public Health Association's 139th Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington, DC on October 29.

“I am really thankful to the department of Public Health, CHHS and Kentucky Public Health Association for making me what I am today” said Advani.

“I am really happy that I have been a part of WKU and contributed to public health in state of Kentucky. I am especially thankful to Dr.Nagy who nominated for this position, and I am very confident that graduates from our MPH program will achieve in great success wherever they go".
