CHHS Professor Selected at Phi Alpha Honor Society National Advisor of the Year

Dr. Jay Gabbard, Associate Professor of Social Work at WKU, was selected as the 2012 Phi Alpha Honor Society National Advisor of the Year. Dr. Paul Baggett, Executive Director of Phi Alpha, presented Dr. Gabbard with the award at the organization's annual business meeting, held at the Washington (DC) Hilton Hotel on November 11, 2012. In his remarks, Gabbard credited the support of his students, officers, and department head as primary reasons for the success of Delta Mu Chapter at WKU.

Phi Alpha, founded in 1960 at Michigan State University, is the honor society for undergraduate and graduate social work students in the U.S., with over 380 chapters nationwide. In addition to recognizing scholastic excellence, the organization also awards scholarships for social work students, supports chapter service projects, and supports high standards in social work education.
