The World Council for Gifted and Talented Children will host its 20th Biennial World Conference, "Celebrating Giftedness and Creativity," August 10-14, 2013, at the Galt House Hotel and Conference Center in Louisville, KY.

Last month The Center for Gifted Studies at Western Kentucky University hosted a delegation of 14 educators from Saudi Arabia who were sent to Bowling Green by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Education to learn about gifted education.

For the second time since October, a delegation of educators from Saudi Arabia is visiting The Center for Gifted Studies and Gatton Academy at Western Kentucky University to learn best practices in gifted education.

The Center for Gifted Studies' Fall Super Saturdays program hosted more than 600 first through eighth graders from three states and more than 60 school districts each Saturday from Oct. 27 to Nov. 17. Students participated in one of nearly 40 classes.

The NAGC honored Julia Link Roberts, WKU Mahurin Professor of Gifted Education, with its Distinguished Service Award, and Nielsen Pereira, WKU assistant professor of education, with an Outstanding Doctoral Student Award.

Dr. Julia Link Roberts, Executive Director of The Center for Gifted Studies, was among the Girl Scouts of Kentucky's Wilderness Road's 100 Women of Distinction, named as a part of the Girls Scouts 100th anniversary celebration.

The middle schoolers visited WKU to attend the Kentucky Recognition Ceremony for the Duke Talent Identification Program. The event honored students for scoring at or above the average for college-bound seniors on one or more sections of the ACT or SAT.
