Research
Mr. Maestre received his Bachelor's Degree in Education with an emphasis in English and Spanish from Universidad del Atlántico, Barranquilla Colombia in 1990. He earned his Master’s Degree from Queens College of the City University of New York in 2004.
Bio
Mr. Maestre joined the Department of Modern Languages in 2004. He has developed a special Spanish class for Health Care Majors. This special section is intended for students seeking a Health Degree with abilities in communicative Spanish. In the past, he has taught all levels of Spanish in High School in his native Colombia and New York City. He is a member of The Kentucky World Language Association. Also he is the advisor for the Spanish Club at Western Kentucky University, and is dedicated to promote the use of the Spanish Language across campus. His research interests are: Spanish Dialects in Latin American countries, Latin American Literature Culture and Civilization, Technology in Teaching Foreign Languages (Spanish, Portuguese and French) and Study Abroad Programs. He participated in a Study Abroad Program in Ecuador with KIIS, Kentucky Institute for International Studies. Also, he has been a reviewer for new Elementary Spanish textbooks for some publishers in United States.
Teaching Philosophy
Mr. Maestre’s objective as a professional is to accommodate his diverse students in a warm, stimulating environment. He enjoys teaching Spanish, values his students' and colleagues' opinions, and I love being a team player. He likes to attend educational language seminars and loves to travel the world.
